WebEx Meeting Lesson #1

Attention all nose-pickers, pimple-poppers, and scratchers of the unmentionables!!!

WebEx will automatically enable your camera and broadcast whatever it is your are doing to all other meeting attendees. So, even if you think that stain on the backside of your pants looks like chocolate, don’t go in for a taste-test. Can I get an amen?!?

Here’s how to turn off the automatic WebEx video broadcast. Put a post-it over your camera.

iResist

I wanted to congratulate my friend Ryan Joseph on breaking 20,000 downloads on the App Store with his app “iResist”. It lets you line up colors using a picker and gives you the resistance of a transistor based off of that. Also, it has the best slogan ever: “Minutes of development, minutes of fun!”.

It’s About Time!

Apple finally brought back the download stats to the app store yesterday. I’m sure they got plenty of “love mail” for having taken it down in the first place.

As for our own apps, we weren’t going to take any chances. We went ahead and built our own reporting mechanism to keep tabs on our download counts.

Has anyone else started doing this?

WordPress App for the iPhone

wordpress

Exxxxxtatic! is a a good adjective to describe my feelings about the new WordPress app for the iPhone. I can now edit my blog while waiting in line at the grocery store, getting my hair done, or waiting for a friend at my local coffee shop. Granted, there are a few issues to be worked out, but there aren’t too many apps out now that I would say don’t need any work at all. Even my beloved Labrynth app has it’s moments.

Track Changes and Other Tribulations of Word

track changes

Apparently, Word doesn’t actually track changes if you deselect the “Track changes while editing” option from the Track Changes Settings panel. It makes sense when you think about it in plain English. Unfortunately for me, I made the outrageous assumption that if I just selected “track changes” I wouldn’t want then be given an option to disable my own ability to actually track changes.

Silly designer.

I guess I should have left my logic at home today.
