Hello. I’m Collin. Krista and I are two interns that are working in Rocklin to develop one or several iPhone applications to be sold in the iPhone App store under the name “iPhone Lemurs”. We’re each writing blogs to document our design process.
I’m doing the coding, Krista is holding down the graphics, and we’re both working together on the design of the apps. Since the iPhone SDK is all still NDA, I’m going to try to describe what I’m working on and discovering technically in a very general sense as not to incur any wrath from the . We’re about a week in at this point, so I will summarize what’s happened up until now.
We started off with a group interview where Krista and I were grouped together to create an idea for a sample application. Idea, marketing, pricing, expected market penetration and size of market. Our group reined victorious and after taking a test and having a personal interview we were both ready to start a week later!
The first day of last week was spent brainstorming ideas. The second and third… and fourth… days were, for me, spent reading the documentation on Apple’s iPhone Developer site and trying to get basic UI controls to function.
As of last Friday and Monday of this week I was trying to make Interface Builder bend to my will. Eventually, beaten, I realized that I would have to suck it up and do the UI stuff in code. This actually isn’t such a problem, with the way that most iPhone UI is put together, and has lead me to a realization that iPhone OS is not Mac OS X. Also, blogs are not voice activated.
Technical breakthroughs forthcoming.
